Vampire Survivors: Emergency Meeting DLC by poncle

A crossover between Vampire Survivors and Among Us is a strange idea. How exactly do you combine the founder of the current boom of wave survival games with a hidden role, social deduction smash hit?

The answer is that you take the silliest elements of both and smash ’em together. You know, simple!

Hidden In Plain Sight

Emergency Meeting is much the same content-wise as the two previous DLC packs for Vampire Survivors. You get a new level to explore, several new characters and weapons to unlock, and some new challenges to overcome. If you’ve played the base game and any of its existing expansions, you know how this works already.

That said, the highlight of this DLC isn’t so much the content itself but how it’s used. The developers at poncle clearly recognize the inherent silliness of the crossover and have leaned into it with gusto.

The map comes with plenty of unique challenges taken straight from Among Us, right down to having to perform menial tasks while struggling to survive. There’s also some hilarious boss encounters and hidden things on the map I won’t reveal here.

Similarly, the crew of Among Us survivors (and impostors) to unlock are both fun and funny to play. They don’t change the gameplay in any drastic way, but their new weapons and nuances fit right in with the game’s already extensive list of survivors. The weapons they come with are also very thematically appropriate (the Emergency Meeting button from Among Us is even a new weapon to thin the herd with).

The Hidden Truth

Not to be outdone, the DLC’s new array of creatures is equally silly. The prospect of being attacked by crewmate-shaped snowmen never got old to me, and it’s clear the artists had a blast coming up with ridiculous, cartoony designs to feature on this map.

Emergency Meeting may seem strange on paper, but for fans of these games (or even just Vampire Survivors itself), I’d consider it a must-buy. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it’s a great time for the cost of entry. Plus, it actually made me appreciate both games’ senses of humor even more. You can’t put a price on that!

Vampire Survivors: Emergency Meeting DLC is available via the Nintendo Game Store, Xbox LIVE Marketplace, Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Steam.
