Crank Up Your Chainsaws

Bristol, UK-based studio Auroch Digital has announced a card design competition for the newest game in the Chainsaw Warrior series, Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night. Fans are encouraged to come up with an idea for a new card to be used within the digital board game. Options for new card designs can include new weapons, items, vehicles, traps or enemies. The studio stipulates, however, that any new card design should not disturb the balance of the game; it should instead “enhance the gameplay in a plausible and unbiased manner.”

Fans are not required to illustrate their potential card ideas (though sketches are welcome), but merely need to submit their ideas via e-mail to gtn@aurochdigital.com by August 31st, 2015. The studio will design and implement the winning idea into the game itself. The winner will also be given a special design credit.

More Future Violence from Games Workshop

Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night is the follow-up to the original Chainsaw Warrior video game (also from Auroch Digital), which is itself based on a solo board game released by Games Workshop in 1987. The original game, in both its tabletop and video game variants, features combat between a chainsaw-wielding special forces soldier and other-dimensional monsters in a near-future New York City. Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night expands on that premise with the addition of elements based on Aztec mythology.

The Chainsaw Warrior series is one of a number of Games Workshop offerings licensed to indie studios for video game adaptations, the most popular being the Warhammer 40,000 strategy game and its various spin-offs, such as the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr action RPG under development by NeocoreGames.

To celebrate the card design contest, Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of the Night is currently on sale for 50% off on all platforms, including Steam, the iTunes App Store, Google Play and GamersGate.
