Threefold Recital by Everscape Games
Threefold Recital presents a visual novel unlike any I’ve experienced. Embedded deep within a fantasy world populated by beastlings, humans, and dragons is an adventure abundant in twists and turns.
Likable characters bring an appreciation of their sundry identities and innate abilities. It’s not every day you come across a fox who also plays the role of a priest.
Developed by Everscape Games, the peculiarity that is Threefold Recital unveils three friend protagonists: a wolf, a fox, and a snake, who have each achieved human form through a lot of work and patience. Anything is possible if you just believe.

Each of our heroes possesses a power unique to them that is harnessed during their separate storylines. I especially enjoyed altering a person’s appearance with the talent of snake-turned-artist.
Riddle Me This
What I found interesting about Threefold Recital was how complex – and often broken – the dialogue is compared to how effortless the puzzles were. Heck, you can outright skip a handful of riddles if you don’t feel like doing them.
The back-and-forth quips and abundant commentary grow tiring at times. However, most of the foundation supporting the narrative retains an intrigue that kept me on my toes.

Each chapter is composed of “maybe not as important, but still” and “this is kind of a big deal” tasks. What you accomplish determines how much “karmamine” is awarded.
A Low-Stakes Gamble
Karmamine can be used to purchase items from a capsule vending machine; you’re never sure what you’ll get. Perhaps it’s a tune from Threefold Recital’s original soundtrack or décor to bring life to the humdrum hub center.
You don’t face defeat in Threefold Recital. Even if you fail a puzzle or answer a question incorrectly during one of the numerous discussions, you’re presented with another chance to try again or answer correctly.

Details that may seem secondary knowledge are integral to all three of our beastling friend’s stories. If you rush, it’s mindless to skip through dialogue, but you’ll miss crucial evidence that pieces everything together.
The Verdict
I’m a mystery genre junkie, so uncloaking the paradoxes sprinkled throughout Threefold Recital brought a sense of fulfillment to my soul. Not only is the story excellent, but the quintessential qualities of each character and their experiences add comical and solemn undertones to the narrative.
Sure, it’s excessive to click through, but the revelations that come to light make Threefold Recital an experience that will stick with me for quite some time.
Threefold Recital is available via Steam.
