The Walking Dead: Michonne – A Telltale Games Series, a new spin-off from the popular adventure game series based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book series and television adaptation, will debut February 23rd.
The new mini-series centers around sword-wielding fan favorite character Michonne and takes place during the time period between issues #126 and #129 of the comic book series. Michonne disappeared from the comic book’s storyline during those issues, and the game will explore her time away from the rest of the series’ main characters.
Portrayed by Danai Gurira in AMC’s television series, the character of Michonne will be voiced by Samira Wiley in the game. Wiley is best known for her award-winning work in the Netflix original series Orange is the New Black.
The debut episode of the mini-series, “In Too Deep,” will see Michonne joining the crew of the sailing ship The Companion and its encounter with a floating colony of survivors from the zombie apocalypse. An additional episode, “Give No Shelter,” will be released in March, with the conclusion of the mini-series, entitled “What We Deserve,” following up in April.
The Walking Dead: Michonne will be released on all major gaming platforms: Windows PC, Mac, Sony PlayStation and Xbox. It will also be available on mobile platforms via Apple’s iTunes App Store, Google Play and the Amazon App Store; however, the mobile edition will be released two days after the February 23rd PC and console debut.
The game retails for $14.99, which will include access to all three episodes as they become available.
Eager fans unable to wait for the official release date can preview the first six minutes of the game on the Telltale Games YouTube page. The video footage premiered February 14th, coinciding with the first airing of the mid-season premier of the television series.
