Oculus for All of Us

It’s been months since the Oculus SDK starting shipping to eager developers, and already, a wealth of VR enabled games and demos have been created for use with the headset. This year’s IndieCade@E3 booth featured four Rift-enabled titles.

Now, Oculus and IndieCade are stepping up the game; The upcoming Oculus IndieCade VR Jam invites developers to create games and experiences unique to the Rift SDK. Winners will share in $50,000 in prizes, and grand prize winners will flown out to have their projects featured at this year’s IndieCade festival in Culver City, from October 3-6, 2013.

Anyone can register to compete in the jam, which will take place over three weeks (August 2 – Aug 25). Finalists will be announced on September 13, and winners will be crowned on September 19th. Participants can only submit works exclusively designed for the Rift VR environment, and should include a secondary input (keyboard/mouse or Xbox 360 controller). Competing projects must also have been created specifically for the Jam.

Designers who don’t yet own a rift SDK can still compete via Playtest hubs. There are hubs located at USC in Los Angeles, NYU in New York City, with additional hub locations to be announced at a later date.
