Kalypso Media, who recently released the critically acclaimed best-seller Tropico 3 for Xbox 360 and PC, DarkStar One – Broken Alliance for Xbox 360, Disciples III: Renaissance, Patrician IV: Conquest by Trade and Dungeons for Windows in association with Chromatrix GmbH PC have acquired the license to develop The Dark Eye brand for their upcoming action role-playing game Demonicon. Scheduled for release in 2012 for Windows PC and console, Demonicon will be developed using the official rules of Europe’s best-known and most popular role-playing universe. Fittingly, the new game will be titled The Dark Eye – Demonicon.

“By integrating the official The Dark Eye rules, Demonicon becomes a must-have title in the hearts and minds of fans of the popular RPG universe,” said Simon Hellwig, Global Managing Director, Kalypso Media Group. “By combining our extremely strong video game development capabilities with a very popular and time-proven system of elegant RPG rules, we are confident that we can deliver a superb title that will thrill fans of RPG and The Dark Eye brand in equal measure.”

Dr. Stefan Blanck, Managing Director Chromatrix GmbH added, “We are thrilled to work with Kalypso Media, an experienced global publisher and developer with a strong track record. Through the official The Dark Eye license and its immersive game world, The Dark Eye – Demonicon will undoubtedly become a 2012 video game highlight.”

The Dark Eye – Demonicon is currently under development by Noumena Studios, a Kalypso owned development studio in Berlin for PC and console, and is scheduled for a release in 2012.

Other upcoming titles for the developers include The First Templar, Tropico 4 and Jagged Alliance: Back in Action.
