Top 10 Best Indie Games of 2012, Honorable Mentions and IGR’s Most Anticipated Games for 2013

9. Tiny and Big: Grandpa’s Leftovers

(Black Pants Game Studio)
Original US Release: June 19th, 2012

Tiny and Big seems to have fallen under everyone’s radar in 2012, which is strange considering it is a truly enjoyable mix of third person 3D platforming, physics and action all done with a cel-shaded style similar to Borderlands and an uber-hip soundtrack featuring over 15 indie bands which is progressively unlocked by finding cassette tapes in hidden rooms and secret locations. Nothing else out there really does what Tiny and Big pulled together.

Once it was sent out to our various writers for consideration, however, almost all responded with great enthusiasm. Although a little on the short side, this was one of the funnest games we played all year.

Callabrantus adds:
“Tiny and Big, makes use of some really great game mechanics, and makes a challenging game that is still really fun to play and packed with fast action. I love that extra ambient tracks from indie rockers are collectibles in the game. It is insanely good and I have no idea why this one wasn’t on my radar sooner. It’s an excellent game, and based on the crazy over-the-top physics, I’d say it puts the game in league with games like Portal.”
